While travelling if you are in between jobs should that be a cause for concern. I hear that randomly people get questioned about where they work. If the person is currently unemployed could he / she be potentially considered as a public charge ( and so found ineligible to enter US) or is the intent behind the question is to find out if the person is still with the sponsorer?

I don't think this is a major issue unless you're really unlucky in general (like I am). If you have valid documents to re-enter the US, more than likely you won't have a problem being out of work. :)

EB applicants are expected to have jobs, but GC is for prospective employment, so it is always wise to have some sort of EVL in your hand while travelling on either H1 or AP.

Personally I have never been asked that question. I usually just hand the documents over and sit down to read, when they are done they call me back, at which time I pick up my documents and get out of there pretty darn fast. But you can never tell, so it is better to be safe than sorry.

Thanks for the reply guys..I apologise I forgot to mention that the person in question has a GC. In that case would he /she still need to prove their financial ability to support themself? What Iam looking for is at POE the IIO has to only be concerned whether the person continues to maintain US as his primary residence and has no criminal background or he / she also needs to verify that the person is not a potential public charge.
