Detailed Quesion

I am about to fill N-400 form for citizenship: and I have 4 questions.. and I am giving details to let you know the ground of my situation:

1- I went out of US for a short vacation last year and got Married to my wife.. she never been in US and she is still out of US. So In response to the N-400 form Part# 3 question G. I answered that my marital status is Yes Married… so later on N-400 form there is more detailed questions about my marriage ..in particular part# 8 question B. …Social Security No. and Alien No . Number ..which she doesn’t have …she is out of US .. she is not here…. So what should I put in this fields ..maybe N/A …also about her address it’s out of US … should mention that or just pt N/A also. Please help me.

2- I came to US in 07/1999 and I left the US for more then 2 years [ 10/1999 è 01/2002 I used re-entry passport for 2 year, and the extra months is because they were late to issue me the re-entry passport due to missing photos ], so because this out of us time was so long that it interrupted my continues residency in US, I had to wait until now, [ now I am applying around 90 days earlier then the 5 year required] , so about the question on the N-400 form (Question Part 6. - A.) where it says

“Part 6. Information About Your Residence And Employment.
A. Where have you lived during the last five years? Begin with where you live now and then list every place you lived for the last five years. If you need more space, use a separate sheet(s) of paper.”

My question is: based on me applying 90 days before my 5 years continues residency in US, is it enough to only mention my living address on us, or because of that 90 days I have to provide the address of the overseas address?

3- My Selective Service issue… When I came to US in 07/1999 I was 24 years old… but as you may notice from above I shortly left after me coming to US by 3 months 10/1999 ..and I came back on 01/2002 when I was 27 years old ..and later that year 05/2002 I learned about the Selective Service ..and it is a low to register …so after reading the low I sent an apology latter to the Selective Service ..telling them that I really simply didn’t know it was required to register with them and that I am 27 years old now and I can’t register any more. So they send me a letter of status.

Now my question is : even thought this letter of statues is dated 05/2002, is it enough for me to send it along with my N-400 form? Or I have to obtain a new one from Selective Service?

4- Last question : do I can attach a separate sheet to explain my answer to any point in the N-400 that I am filling,

If you were living somewhere ouside of the US in last 5 years you have to mention it. other wise not necessary to mention vacations less than 90 days.(make sure you have 30 months continous residency)

Since you spouse has never been in the US, you should put N/A in the question that is not applicable.

Call Selective Service couple times to make sure that the letter is enough, and explain them that why do you want the letter for. US immigration may question anything after you send them the documents and apllication anyway, but make sure that everythings are the way you wanted them before you send anything out.

If you read the instruction in N-400 or any other US immigration applications, it says that if you need more space you can attache another sheet to your application. I am sure that the Officer who is in charge of controling the applications will pay enough attention to see that.

I am sure you will be fine Brother, there is nothing to be worry about. Make sure you read the instruction and understand every sentence of it, because no on eis responsible for your action but you.

Since you raised a question let me ask you this, have you thought about the process of bringing your wife here? I have similar situation I though that it may help me if you dont mind to answer.

Enjoy the day,

Nas

Thank you very much for your help ...

- about the 90 days I mention above ...I mean that I am currently being here for 4 years 9 months and the low allows me to apply now if I want ...but in the question about where I have been living in the past 5 years ..do I have to mention far back more then 4 year and 9 months ..even though that was out of US...

- I will give the selective service a call to make sure the letter I have from 05/2002 is enough or not like you said

- About my wife I will put N/A to those question

- About the extra explaining attachment paper ..yes that's what I thought to ..but from reading all the instruction ..it was saying attach extra sheet if needed was in response to a certen question ..so I wasn't sure I can do that for everything

- About bringing my wife ..yes ..I am going to do that right after I get my citizenship ...cuz applying now with me only holding a green card will require about 5 to 6 years to bring my wife ..so I will wait until I get my citizenship first then apply... but ..some ppl told me you can apply for the I-130 now and then it will be in hold status or to just start the process and then later when I have my citizenship done I can change the status of that I-130 application from based on green card to based on citizenship then things will go faster ..but I decided not to bother and just do the sure way ...and here is the best ..best ...best ..website that will help you get good info. about brining your wife ..maybe you know it already ..it is very known

Thank you again for the help.

It was an awsome website, really helpful and thank you.

- You can apply 90 days prior to the end of the 5 year of residency from the date which has stated in your green card.
It says last five years and location you have been living in, but I would put a little more since they have all of your info. to just clarify that you are right and have nothing to hide.
- I always think the letter that you may include in your application helps the officer to understand your situation better. It might take some times for them to read it but it will be better to not get confused and send you whole bunch of RFI.

Good Luck and thanks again for the website.
