Pls clarify - Emergency Appointment to get Stamping at India

Hi All,

Could you please clarify about Emergency Appointment to get stamping at India? I didn't get all info. from https://www.vfs-usa.co.in/ site. So please help me.

I am working in USA with H1B visa and my wife is staying with me in dependent Visa (H4). We would like to schedule an appointment for our visa stamping at Chennai branch since my Permanent residence is in south India (Tamil Nadu). Can you pls clarify my below questions.

Since I am working in USA with H1B

1. Can I apply Emergency appointment for me and my wife?

2. What are the Documents needed to get Emergency appointment?

3. In Chennai Branch, the earliest Emergency appointment is available only on September, 2006 as of today (April 13, 2006). If I find any earlier date before September in other centers like Delhi, Calcutta or Mumbai Can I make an appointment there though I live in Tamil Nadu?

4. Or I will get nearest appointment in Chennai embassy itself as Emergency appointment

I really appreciate your cooperation in this issue.

My visa expired on Aug 2004. (around 2 years) After that I didn't go for stamping any where. Now I am in 8th year extension. Can I go to Canada or Mexico for stamping or I have to go only in my home country.

Please clarify me.

1. YES, you qualify as valid candidate for emergency appointment.

2. You can check the website, they have list of documents, plus go through few threads in this forums and read people's experiences.

3. Since yours is H1 revalidation you can go for stamping at any consulate in India or world.

4. Keep checking website everyday, dates keep moving backward/forward you might get something early if you are lucky.
