1 - yes

2 - not a problem. I suggest you mention this to the IO during the interview (the IO will go over the entire N-400 form with you); if necessary, the answer can be amended at the interview

3 - No. Trips abroad lasting less than 24 hours do not need to be listed in N-400

4 - You did not give enough details. The real question is whether your brother was required to file a federal tax return for 2005. The answer depends on several factors, such as his age at the time, his filing status, his income, etc. Generally, people with income below a certain amount are not required to file a federal income tax return. See http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=96623,00.html
If your brother was required to but did not file a 2005 tax return, this could be a problem. Question 10.A.4 on N-400 specifically asks "Since becoming a lawful permanent resident, have you ever failed to file a required Federal, State, or local tax return?". Also Question 10.A.5 asks " Do you owe any Federal, State, or local taxes that are overdue?"
If your brother was required to file a tax return for 2005 but did not file, he can still file a late return for 2005 now, if applicable, pay the taxes due as well as the penalties, interests etc. Even if he does not owe any tax for 2005 but was still required to file, he should still file a late return now.
