How to get Police clearence from India???Please help me with this and i cannot take from indian embassy because i have 20 days left for the interview.
thanks in advance

Hi Chicagopains,

Sorry to hear about your case. Can you please tell me your timeline? Where is your interview? Do you have your CAIPS notes?

If you have family or friends in India you can request them to go to the SP or SSP's office of your home town. You will have to send them a copy of your passport(you can scan and e-mail it) and they can request for your police clearance. OR your relative or friend can also contact the Regional Passport Office that issued your passport to get your Police clearance.

You should get the certificate before your interview. Even if you are not able to get the police clearance certificate it is no big deal as you can send it later on. You will have a lot of time as even if you get the medical done today it will take approx 2 to 3 months for the results to reach the immigration official who is handling your case.

Kenny please don't advise wrong

Ya please , because PCC from India means(If you are in USA) you are requesting a PCC from Indian Cosulate General in USA(NY , CHicago, DC, CA) not from aksing your relative in India and ask them to go SP or SSP's office in your home town.

chicagopains I was in same situation. I went to Indian Cosulate General in NY(It is depend on your state(OH,NJ,KY,WI etc) of living)with my all Canadian papers, original Indian passport,my visa status in USA. I paid $35 emergency fee,$20 for PCC , $15 for express post. And on 5th day I received my passport with PCC from ICG of NY.Below is the form to fill out.

Don't worry , just go to ICG ASAP.

That make sense!!!

Kindly enlighten me as to where it says that if you are in US you HAVE to get Indian PCC from an Indian consulate???

When I submitted my application in Dec 2003 I got the Indian police clearance from New Delhi and have not been asked to provide a clearance from the Indian embassy.

You have to open your mind and understand that there are options available. In the situation Chicagopains is it will be much faster to get the PCC from India provided he has a support system there.

If you search this forum you will find that there have been cases where the immigration official has refused to accept the PCC issued by an Indian consulate in US and have specifically asked the applicant to get a PCC from the SP or SSP's (of the city where the applicant lives) office in India.

Think Logically Kenny

Kenny I am not telling you there are no other options avaliable. I got my PR approval papers(23rd August 2005) with PCC from Indian Cosulate General NY. Chicagopain has only 20 days to get PCC. And it is next to impossible for him to get it from India through relatives withing 20 days.

Now let him decide what is best for him.

My 2 cents!!!!

Sunny

Thanks For Kenny and Sunny

Thanks a lot Kenny for your advise .I contacted Indian embassy here they said it is impossible to give in 5 days I dont know how he(sunny) got in 5 days
may be he is lucky guy so i lost that option.I send my friends in India to Regional passport office to get the clearence they said i have come through Washington embassy, well they said if washington office sends a request the can re-act fast on the case, but no garantee

Well at this point i am not taking my police clearence to the Interview--The issue is how big deal is this?
Another question on medicals can i do after the interview--they clearly said do the medicals(i dont want to gamble $325*3=$975.00).

Its not a big deal if you dont take the Indian PCC to the interview. If the immigration official asks for it then you can say that you have applied for it and you will send it as soon as you get it.

You can get the medical done after the interview. But by delaying the medical exam you are delaying your application. It takes approx 2-3 months for the immigration officer to get your medical results so get them done as soon as you clear the interview.

As far as your work experience is concerned just tell the truth. Explain how your IT consulting company works - most probably the immigration officer will know as they interview a lot of people like us. Honesty is the best policy. If you were on the bench for some time just tell them. Make sure you take your tax returns, pay stubs etc to prove that you have been working for the mentioned companies.

All the best and share your interview experience after you are done.
