Hello All,

Today I spoke to a woman in USCIS regarding my AP/EAD renewal-here is what she had to say. Please verify what she said is alrightor not.

Her statements
1. Attach 1 original of AP

2.Write both checks on Department of Homeland Security-Its a new 'thing' passed 2 weeks back and will shortly be there on all the forms.

3.No need for marriage certificate(even for secondary applicants) as EAD and AP are own documents and not dependant ones.

4. No need for paspport xeroxes.

I am little skeptic regarding her statements. Please comment.

2 through 4 make sense, but I wouldn't send in an original AP. I'd send them a photocopy of my I-485 receipt to prove eligiblity.

AFAIK, you need to send copy of some form of picture ID - I would send DL copy for sure. If that photo is not very "good" (we all know how we look in the DL :D). send PP copy also (just the bio page).
I've sent checks payable to USCIS for EAD and AP - no issues. not sure about DHS.

Reg original AP - I would lean towards a copy as well - but if you've never traveled on your old AP, then you should have 2 or 3 "originals" - in that case, you can send one of the originals - no big deal.
I definitely won't send the original if that's the only one with me.
