Hi All,

We need your help in testing out this software that we plan on using for our advocacy effort.
Please visit this link , http://testdrupal.immigrationportal.org/
register yourself and post your opinion in the forum titled, "Please provide your opinion ".

Rajiv's idea is to get us a community site that acts as repository of information (how to meet Xcongressmen, what to say, report on what was accomplished); a journal of individual efforts AND a groupware project management tool (which member of the community is handling what).

We would appreciate your help in deciding in favor of this software.

Thanks

Monica

Is there going to be some positive results from the advocacy software and the website. we already collected lots of petitions what happened to that? We need to be contacting some high profile immigrant support groups who have some clout in washington. without that we cannot make any headway. There must be someone working full time on this matter within that group only then some of us would be willing to shell out money to push things forward. Right now I don't feel there is any direction or leadership or any fulltime effort in regards to this matter by anybody. Even so it seems like a multi-year (4-5?) effort to make anything happen which would really not help me much so yes I am starting to lose interest.

The problem is who can kep track of the efforts and mould them for maximum effectiveness. This not a short term project. People are already using our software to send letters to Congressmen. I think that helps a little bit in the short term. But for maximum effectiveness we have to manage all advocacy efforts like a commercial project. I know that a lot of people will lose interest by the time we are up and running. But what can be done about that, really. If you folks have any better ideas, let me know.

By the way talking of petitions, as a result of one of our petitions, I received a phone call from Dale Zeigler, the chief of the US Department of Labor, ETA (for all of USA) to discuss our problems and his recommended solutions. So, I think doing something is better than doing nothing. Given time, we will be doing it all very effectively.

Of course, if you folks wish to raise money and hire full time help, I would be only too happy to help. This is your effort, you decide.

I think at this point, what would raise interest in any such software .. is results.

Folks are just too dejected and depressed and have lost all hope in getting BCIS out of it's stupor and do something about the mess. Everyone has tried in their own ways, and this software is perhaps being mentally perceived as .. another such effort .. with even lesser chances of panning out because it is not a direct effort.

If we can somehow get our message across, and convince/promise participants that this will and has made a difference, it would really rouse ther interest into the full picture. Heck, most of us would do anything to get a GC as on date. (or whatever we are after)

Otherwise, we are all just too busy holding our jobs with both hands and legs to give it any effort. Y'know, each one of us puts in effort into what we feel will yeild a result, and right now people are too busy .. holding onto their jobs to spare any bandwidth for anything else besides the forum, and keep themselves educated about .. what in case .. (in other words, we are too busy accepting what comes, to spare any effort in changing what might come). So a second point that would help would be, something that doesn't require me to learn anything new .. coz I just don't have the time or patience.

Thats the real issue from our viewpoint (our not including me coz technically I'm on both sides :D:D)

but .. anyway thought I'd share it with you if it helps .. fair critique accepted well is the only way for true self improvement IMHO.

Good points. But I feel we need the support of a good, solid, realistic people. How can there be results without well executed/conceived effort. But I will give this matter some more thought.
