Hey I'm going to the my i-485 Interview soon and i see mostly here people who either applied through their spouse or job.

Can someone post their experience as a relative of the sponsor (excluding spouse)? I am a son of a LPR who applied for me 5 years ago and my turn is finally up :) .

What is the focus of the interview?

Thanks.

Ok, i would also take one of those "I know someone who knows someone who...." post about interview experience :)

Thanks.

I'm ok thanks for asking  . How u doin? Where in NYC? I'm from Brazil. Did you go through the interview yourself?

I'm doing okay. I'm from New York City too. No, I have not gone throught the interview process yet. I only have an approval for my I-130, I'm waiting for a Visa number. The reason why I asked you, what country you are form was because I wanted to know why it took so long for your I-130 to be approved. You said that your PD is Jan 2000 and your I-130 was approved in 2005. Now, my mother a U.S. Permanet Resident petition for me last year. My PD is March 29, 2004 and I got my I-130 approved on June 21, 2005. Anyway, I just wanted to share that with you Bro. I hope everything goes okay for you the date of your interview.

It might have to do with your age. If you are under 18, i think is way way faster. How old are you and what country are you from?

I don't think age has nothing to do with it. When my mother petition for me, I was 23 years old. My country of birth is Panama. In my opinion, I think it has more to do with country of birth. For example, if you were from Mexico you probably still be wait for your I-130 to be approved. Reason being that Mexico send more than 50,000 immigrants to U.S. every year.
