Hi all,

According to the USCIS my and my wife's cases were approved and on September 13 approval notices were sent. After ten days of waiting I have yet to receive the notices.
I checked with the CIS Laguna Niguel Center that they have my correct address- they do.
Responding to my request CIS even sent me the fax that stated that our cases were approved. I have an infopass appointment for next Wednesday- I hope to get the approval letters by that time, or I will try to use the fax that I got from the USCIS Laguna Niguel Center.

I have a request:

if you had to wait more than ten days for the approval letter (after Approval date) please post your experience.

Cheers.

Same status for me too

For us, the online status shows that the approvals were made on 10th Sep (the previous business day w.r.t yours). I rcvd confirmation letter for my address change done in June. May be CIS is taking more time to despatch courtesy letters or they are not even sending it. I had change of attorney also, so I am not counting on original approval notice. I am hoping that I will get either of the two soon.

I think the least you can do is to call them (USCIS) today (it is 14 days since Sept 10) and check to which address they sent your approval letter (to the first lawyer, second lawyer or your home address). Does your message says anything about the approval letters being sent ?? If yes, then when ???

In my case I do not have an attorney- i.e. a university immigration specialist helped me with the forms but I put my own address on the applications. Up until now all mail from USCIS arrived within 7 days from change at the case status web site.

Meantime, I was reminded by three different IIOs that I can not travel untill I get stamp in my passport.

It starts to look like Catch 22.

Why to get panic...

unless stamping is required immediately. Couple of my friends got their approvals after 10 days. I am not in hurry for stamping, and I shall wait for another one week to report to CSC. INS sends me a copy as "courtesy" (that is why it is called courtesy copy), and I care more about the original copy. As it goes to first attorney, reaches second attorney..... I want to give it more time. I hope to get either of the two by next week.

Reg, online msg. It says

"On Sept 10, the .... is approved and approval notice has been mailed. If 14 days......". Since I got confirmation letters, I don't want to bug them unnecessarily. All my previous correspondense went to first attorney but they were professional enough to fwd to my second attorney. It took 2.5 years for I-485 to get approved and I think it is worthwhile to wait 2.5 weeks for receiving the physical notice.

Actually, nobody panics.

I do have to go to Canada for a conference in two weeks, so it is more urgent in my case, but this is not the point.

I am trying to understand thwo things:
a) could I stamp the passport with the fax I got from the USCIS (I can not go to Canada without stamp),
b) how the hell it could be that the approval notices sent on september 13 (acording to USCIS e-mails and fax) but i have yet to receive them.

If this situation will last a month or longer it would be really uncomfortable: I do not want to sit for a month as a lame duck without right to travel abroad. I travel quite often for professional reasons (I just returned from France a week ago). Besides, both I and my wife have old parents.

I received my approval notices today

I am sorry for you but I don't think you can go for stamping with just a fax message. If so, then they don't even need it as they can see the status on computer themselves. I once went to district office and given the case number, they were able to see the status. You can still make an attempt though.

I still have not received the so called 'courtesy' copies. Apparently, my attorney sent me the approvals by overnight priority and so I have them today morning.

I received my courtesy copies also on monday

Strange right. I got both originals & courtesy copies delivered on the same day. The courtesy copies had postmarked date "24-Sep" that is 2 weeks from the date of approval. Since I rcvd the originals by FedEx, I can't provide postmark date. Since it traversed thru two attorneys, it should not be more than a week from approval date. Since you have no attorney, I can't make any comments for your case. Although the courtesy copy clearly said that "this copy can't be used for any official purpose .....", I know one who got stamping done using courtesy copy.

Waiting for approval notices...

Received approval emails on Sep 14 saying Approved on Sep 13, I have not received approval notices.

Waited for 3 years to get this approval, I guess I could wait for few more days... to see them on paper

Exactly my situation (Sept 13 both me and my wife, e-mail received on Sept 14, also on sept 14 case status changed to "the case approved, on Sept 13 approval notice sent". Still waiting... Checked mailbox today (Sept 28)- still nothing.

my case is also exactly same... Still waiting!!!!!..Please update if anyone of us recieves approval letters.. (sept 13 th approvals)

Of 6 cases approved on Sept 13 that I know (I + my wife, akkati+ wife, booboo_vv, the_gc_wait's wife) as of today (Sept 28) nobody received the approval notice. This is really weird.

I wonder if anybody called CSC recently. I called them last week, I will also call tomorrow...

I suggest that we all share the information and post it here.

approved on 08/31, e-mail on 09/01, approval notices mailed only on 09/13 judging by the stamp, received next day. Lawyer received 2 days earlier.

28 days and no courtesy copy received

Approved 8/31
Approval notices (supposedly) mailed 8/31
Lawyer received the "original" copy 9/9
Stamping with the "original" copy 9/20. (original copy retained by USCIS)

28 days after the approval, still haven't received the courtesy copy.

Will be faxing CSC this week to request the courtesy copy, so I have original and authentic approval notice for my records.

No courtesy approval notice yet

Case was approved on 09/20. I haven't received the approval yet. Checking my mail anxiously for the approval notice everyday. Why can't these boneheads give us a break?

Still waiting for the approval notices, but I was able to stamp my passport earlier today in Sacramento (I had a faxed letter from the CSC stating that my application was approved and and approval notice sent on Sept 13). as I wrote earlier I am going to a conference in Banff, Canada next weekend, so my situation had some urgency (which is why CSC sent me a fax).

Just recevied them today

AD 13 Sep 2004

Recevied notices today and they are postmarked Sep 27 2004. hopefully all of you who got approved on 13th will receive them today
