My I797 was taken away by the US embassy when I went there for my visa interview.

Now I have a valid visa, do I still need the I797 to enter the US??

What should I do if I do need one?
-------------ask the consulate/embassy where you applied your H1 visa OR your employer/lawyer will be having copy or once you reach US your employer/lawyer can file for duplicate approval notice
Should they have given it back to me after my interview??
------------Yes, but I read a post that consulate lost it and person came to US with valid visa stamp and when you enter US they dont ask for approval notice
Can I go to the embassy to ask for it back??
----go and ask, or let them give you a letter that they have lost it. post here what they say.
