Hi guys, finally after sailing a lot in internet looking for answers, I found your portal forum. Please I need some advice:
I came to USA in Dec 2004, then I applied for political asylum for myself (I don't have money for an lawyer) on May 2005. I had an interview with an Immigration Officer in Miami in Aug 2005, my case is a solid case (I left the country because was an ex- Officer of the Armed Forces against a dictatorship regime). USCIS told me that the answer processing time for my political asylum was about 1 month, after the last hurricane hits Fl. I went to the USCIS Offfice in Miami, thinking in a info losted in the mail, but instead I received a letter with the current condition of my petition: in process, pending. I'm desesperated, I don't suppose to work legally until February but I have 2 kids (7 years old and 6 months old) and my wife to feed. Is it "normal" all this time of waiting? I'm living of friends help, I know at least my family is safe, but I want to start my new life now. Where can I ask by phone for the situation of my case?. For USA, how I supposed to live until the final answer date?
I really appreciate your serious advice.

Why not try to contact Senator Mill Martenez or Bill Nelson... or even the congressman in ur area?? if you write a strong letter they should be able to hlep...
 
More questions about asylum.

Hi guys, I have more questions about asylum process. Is it is posible emision of SSN with the status of "case pending, in process" in our status request form sended to us??. Also is it posible issue of Florida driver's license with the same document??. We don't have any insurance coverage but for us is necessary drive everyday to transport our daughter to school. Somebody can help us with some advice, please??????

We filed application on 9/6/2005, we did the interview on date 9/29/2005 and received a letter (status request form) on date 11/30/2005 telling that our case is still pending. How long usually does it take??

Pleeeeaseeeeeee!!!!!! I don't know what to do. I can't sleep, I can't live, I'm desesperate!!!!

Please I need some advice, I don't have money for lawyers and I don't know if I'm doing well and all this long time processing is normal.

I can help you with the DL situation. They will issue you a DL for two years if you show them documents proving that you have a pending asylum application. A receipt notice from the USCIS should be enough.

You of course have to pass the driving test as well. :)

Thanks thankful, it is great. The school zones establish school bus service only if the kid lives more of a designated amount of miles from school. We are living so far but not enough for bus. Thanks anyway, you cannot imagine how we are living, almost as ghosts, without going out too much, only the necessary time, with a lot of fears to do not have a insurance, drivers license, SSN. Just in a dessesperate waiting I really appreciate it.

Devil,

you don't have to live in fear or live like ghosts. Go out and enjoy. I understand you are going through some rought time. Get your DL and find a job paying under the table for now' until you get work authorization. You do what you have to to survive as long as you don't kill someone and rob a bank.
