Hi guys,

This case is about my cousin who is an asylum seeker,he went to the interview and was told his decision will be mailed, till now nothing.
He was given a piece of paper stating that the mailing of his decision will not affect his eligibility to apply for employment authorization under 8cfr208.7(a)(1), after 150 days, he applied for I-765 Employment Authorization.
Yersterday, I helped him to check his I-765 status case online, here is the message updated:


Current Status: Request for Additional Evidence Sent

On January 8, 2008, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case I765 APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the requested information. This case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, call 1-800-375-5283 to update your address.

Did anybody face this kind of situation b4???

Why u think your cousin's decision is not given yet? is your cousin in legal status when he applied for asylum and also still in temporary legal status like tourist visa?

I did a research and found out that those who have legal status will have thier decision mailed. how long ago your cousin had his/her asylum interview?

It is always a pleasure to read from you,I told you that my cousin went to the interview on august 2007, he is no longer in good status almost fours months ago.
I think it doesn't matter being in good or bad status, I don't know if I'm right
I don't know if your researches are true but I know a guy who wasn't in good status prior to having asylum interview but he is still waiting the final decision as my cousin does.
 
After I got my asylum interview, the sent me to court. I wait after 150 days to apply for the work permit then 3 weeks after I got the receipt notice. However in the website said that the application was approved. 1 month after that receipt, I got a letter saying that they could not give me the work permit bacause the clock stopped at the 125th day. It seems that the court stopped the counting of the days. Try to find out if your cousin is in proceedings. Then you may contact the local court and an automatic system will tell you that information.
 
today we received ASYLUM STATUS INQUIRY RESPONSE LETTER from local asylum office and it has list of pre -printed answer to asylum status check and the check mark of our inquiry was that YOUR CASE IS STILL PENDING IN THIS OFFICE and you will be notified of any decisions, something like that. It didn't say when my bro will receive the decision or estimated wait.

There was one answer that has awaiting security.name check and this wasn't checked.
So this means its not because of name,security check that my bro's case is being delayed.

He(My cousin) has been to the local court, the leady asked him his alien number she checked into their information system but told him that his case cannot be found into the system.
She gave him this number :1-800-898-7180 so that he can check his status any time he wants.
I tried the number, the recorded voice said:Your alien# can't be found in the system either your alien# was wrongly entered or your case is not filed with the immigration court.
 
u r our of your mind. u only call this number if ur case if filled with court and to check to see if gov has filed appeal after judge gave u asylum, but ur case is with the asylum office and this number has nothing to do with it

THERE ARE THREE WAYS to check the status of ur cousin's asylum,
Please listen here, 1, go to the asylum office with the MAIL OUT NOTICE LETTER your cousin got after asylum interview, 2, call the local asylum office with your info. 3, Write a letter like I did, the letter is asylum status inquiry letter, you write the A# address, date of interview and address and write asking for update on decision.

I hope you now know how to check the status.

WE got letter back from asylum office but it said case pending with the office.

Thank for advices.
We already sent a letter to the asylum office, hope they will reply as sonn as possible.
My cousin isn't out of his mind , he went there just in order to make sure his file wasn't sent into court.
You know the majority of us are not lawyers, this is the reason we ask advices from one anothers.
 
i myself got asylum from judge and i know that number is to deal with court,

we got response to our letter of asylum decision status inquiry check wihtin2 days after we sent it. but sadly, it just said case pending with that asylum office. my bro's case wasn't stuck cos of backround/security check reason cos that answer wasn't checked.

we will send another letter in feb

Thank for precisions, now I know that we can't check my cousin's status through the 800 number unless his application is sent to the court right?
 
yes, forget the number cos it's useless. only for court related status.
