Please help-Where/When turn in I-94 at airport

Hi all,

I'll go abroad for a trip. When/where do I need to turn in my latest I-94 at the airport?
1. When I check in for luggage claim and boarding pass before the security check?

2. Or after checking in and security check, when I am boarding?

When you checkin luggage and get the boarding pass at the airlines counter that is where you have to hand over the I-94. Infact if you hand over your passport and the I-94 is stapled on it the airlines person will take it off themselves automaticaly. If they forget remind them to take the I-94.

I'm some instances the ticketing agent will take it out of your passport but staple it to your boarding pass. If this happens, you will carry it with you to the gate, and when the gate agent tears your boarding pass, s/he will take the I-94 there. Either way, as long as the airline takes it at some point, you're fine.
