Hi, My aged parent's visa got rejected for want of a Form I-797.

Can someone throw light on what that form I-797 is ?
Is it something that is is available on the net for downloading.
Thanks for your help in advance.

I am sorry this has got nothing to do with our 485's but i surely need some help.

Also my L1B visa has expired is not valid . I have been working on EAD. Please do suggest.

Hi There:

Well! My Mom's visa got refused 4th time.

A brief history:she had a multiple entry in 1997-2001 for 5 yrs. (Prior to that she had a multiple entry also from 1992-1996 and was never ever late in returning). She kept visiting multiple times on my sisters motherhood time and also for some other personal visits.

In 2001 she extended (for the first time) her visit for another 6 months with approval from INS. After that her multiple entry and her 5 year term expired. In Jan 2002 she went for a new 5yr or 10 yr term multiple entry visitors visa. She was denied on some silly reasons. Subsequently she tried three more times and her visa has been denied for no reason.

My father who went for the first time in the 2nd week of July this year also had his visa denied on the basis of my MOM for no solid reason. They are both above 60 yrs. God knows why did so.

I am really worried and do not know what to do.

Plz comment if someone in the same boat

Which consulate?

I have good experience with Delhi Embassy. I have had so many visitors from India, they all managed to get visa, all I had to do was to send I-134.

In fact, my parents asked for 6 month visa but the consulor (some Hindi speaking american guy) talked them into 10 year visa.

Visitor visa is based on your sponsorship. Whatever forms make you legal, consulate wants to see. Since you are on EAD, and EAD proves your status, just send the photocopy of your EAD card to your parents and ask them to try again. Also make sure all other necessary items are available this time.

good luck...

Chennai and Bombay are known for rejecting visitor visa applications. My colleage's parent got denied twice for no reason at all.

Unfortunately, nothing much can be done. Try contacting your senator/congressman...perhaps get a letter... try making a case stating something...."my parents want to see this lovely country of yours.." I don't know what else. Its very unfortunate.

I just checked. The EAD card and the approval which comes along with it is the form I-797. "I-797 " is mentioned on the paper where your EAD is inserted and sent to you.
