Hi,

I am currently in Chicago on the normal 3 month waiver (from Australia).

My girlfriend and I are looking at ways I can stay here without getting married.

Here is my situation. My grandfathers sister, who is a US citizen since 1948, is moving back to the US on Feb 12. She was going to come to Chicago to meet me and apply for a visa with me to the INS in person pleading my case, whether she can guarantor me, sponsor or whatever to be able to get me to stay. Is this a valid option?

Also, I have had an offer for a work sponsor (personal trainer). Are the work visa quota reached?

Desperate for help, thanks, J

My visa waiver knowledge is pretty sketchy, but my understanding is that an alien admitted under the VWP cannot even stay if he does get married to a USC. The problem you have is that part of the "deal" with being admitted under the VWP is that you don't try and change your status later.

It's a good way to meet your great-aunt, but a lousy way to stay in the US.

For H, yes.

Sorry. Looks like back Down Under in your future. Be sure not to overstay the I-94W, that'll cause a world of hurt later on even if you do marry.

Thanks for the info. I figured as much...Oh well, back Down Under. Cant really complain though. I been craving a beach for a long time.

Thanks again, J
