Please help, real easy question

Hello everyone,

This is a real easy question, please don't mind it. Just that I have been reading, and can't get 100% confirmation.

The question is: I just received my mom's green card, but she is traveling abroad (with Advance Parole document). When she comes back in October, should she use the Green Card? does she need to show the AP document or showing makes it more confusing? Just that I am afraid the officer will ask her why she left before green card was received.

Also, my dad applies at the same time, but still no news. Do they process cases together if the applicants are a family?

thank you.

I would advise her to return using her Green Card and passport. Rather than the AP.

That is if you have a "safe" way to get it to her.

HI Praetorian XI,
thank you for the reply. Yes, I will be going in mid Sep, so I can bring the GC to her. Do you think the officer will ask her any questions at all about this?

I do not think it would be a problem. Just tell the truth and show first the GC and passport. If asked show the AP.

How long will she be gone from the US total?

Hi PraetorianXI
She left in Mid July, and will be back early October, so a little less than 3 months

thank you so much

Make sure that she returns to the U.S. before her AP expires, to be safe in case your own plans change. If her AP expires, she will have problems boarding a plane to the U.S. and the USCIS will deem her to have abandoned her GC.

I am assuming her GC was approved while she was outside the country.
