I am a recent USC and am applying for my H1-B husband. I am currently unemployed, so I am showing my income as 0 dollars. We are meeting the income requirement through my husbands job. The document checklist and search at various places indicates that my husband has to get a letter from employer (see quotes below). How does this prove income will continue from same source? Does anyone have a different take on this? If anyone can direct me to more information, I will be most gratefil. Thanks in advance...

If you don't mail it with original submission you will get and RFE(Request for Evidence) and it cause a delay in your processing. I KNOW IT SOUNDS REDUNDANT BUT THEY WILL REQUEST IT."

Get a letter from your husband's employer

Hi,
Get a letter from your husband's employer stating the nature of his job, when he was hired, tasks performed, salary and hopefully his boss will be kind enough to put in some good words about his performance to date.

I just filed mine, husband is USC and I used my income in addition to his. I work in a state funded university, got a letter from my immediate supervisor (a professor) and the dean of the college saying "i've carried out my tasks admirably and we hope to see many good things come out...." stuff like that. Also, I sent in all my paystubs, W-2s, income tax returns. For my husband, he wrote a letter saying his income is not sufficient, therefore not req. to file taxes and using mine as well in the affidavit. He also got a letter from his employer saying the nature of his job, salary etc.

Although most employer will never write on paper that the employment will continue indefinitely, they can always write favorably i.e "please approve X's application and do not hesitate to contact me if more information regarding X's employment is needed".

Hope this helps. Good luck!
