Hi to all. I find this forum very helpful. This is my first time to use it, and I really hope you can help me.

I currently have a H1b visa. It was only issued last july and its my first time to have one. My employer is a staffing agency based in Illinois. I was petitioned to work for one of their client facilities located in NJ (location specified in my LAC). I was instructed by my employer to report for orientation in Illinois this coming October 10. From there they will relocate me to my jobsite in NJ.

A friend of mine in california invited me to stay with him for 1 week before I go to Illinois. I asked permission from my employer and they allowed me.

However my concern is this:

If ever I enter the US through california on october 2, will I encounter problems in the immigration counter? because I am suppose to report in Illinois. Will I be allowed to enter through california? Is there a possiblity I can get deported? Its less than a month away... and Im still confused.. please do help me. Thanks a lot.

-------------- I dont see any problems, they only see visa stamp and give I-94, may ask the employer name
Is there a possiblity I can get deported?
------------ why deported? if they ask why you want to go to CA tell them to meet a friend and then you will go to Illinois. If asked show a letter from employer. answer ONLY what is asked
Its less than a month away... and Im still confused.. please do help me.
---nothing to worry.
Thanks a lot.
