Please Help on OPT-H1 (Urgent)

Hi, I am currently on OPT which expires in Dec 2007. I have already read the news about the rush for H1B quota this year, and about USCIS not accepting any more applications. But I fall in the special category of 20,000 H1B visas, and am trying to find out if USCIS has stopped accepting applications for that quota as well, or an eligible person (who has done his/her Masters' from US) can still file a petition for H1B visa.

I tried reading several posts but could not get an answer to this. I even spoke to a few attorneys but they did not have an answer to this either. I apologize if someone has already answered this question somewhere, but will really appreciate if anyone can provide some information on this.

Thanks in advance.

U can

hey,

As USCIS states that the last date for reciept of 20000 qouta is yet not decided u can still post your application, infact u shud hurry up as this is d rush hour... application under advanced degree are still accepted

Thanks for the reply.. But I spoke to a few attorneys as well as a few consultants, and all of them said that USCIS is not accepting any petitions whatsoever.. be it the General quota one, or the special quota one..

Any one has any confirmation on this..

Thanks in advance for your help

USCIS will first count the applications they received so far. for both categories. If the special quota applications exceed 20,000 then they wont accept further applicaitons. If not it will accept. So you have to wait till they release a number of applications received under US degree quota and If they accept further appls. or not.
