Hi folks,
Please help me answer this question, specially Johny Cash, that i think he was the senior at his forum.
Im applying for citizenship at 07/18/05, FP 11/02/05, and will get interview at 02/02/06, i'm doing all of this without lawyer help ( honestly, i cant afford them ), but lately i hear a lot of thing from my friends and now that become my nightmare, please help me to figure his out!!
1. I have been arrested before, for grand theft auto at 1986, hit and run
at 1989, and i didnt write it on my application, i thought we only need
to write last 5 years record. My friends said i should mark YES at question
number 16 untill 21 ( HAVE EVER BEEN ARRESTED, CITED, DETAINED,
HAVE YOU EVER BEEN COMMITING CRIME, HAVE YOU RECEIVE SUSPENDED
SETENCE, EVER BEEN IN JAIL/PRISON )
The way the question is formulated it basically refers to your whole life, even before you came to US. In my understanding the word EVER implies that.
I didnt know i should write yes, did the officer will asking me at interview
later? If yes, what should i do? Is this will be a problem later?
2. I was marry with my wife at Sept 2004, she has visitor pasport at that
time, and expired at Nov 2004, i dont want she go back to her country
and wait for me, i told her to wait my citizenship.
I was looking for information before, and it doesnt matter about her status
if i become citizen, but now i hear that the officer will asking about
my wife status at interview. What should i answer?
Should i tell him honestly my wife doesnt have permit to stay?
Is this will affect to her later? I'm worried if the INS come and evicted her.
I don't want her got trouble because of me, i want being together with
her over here. For your infrmation, i got my GC at 1982.
So far, i cant find any thread about my case here, please help me to figure this out. This interview appt makes me crazy every day, but i need the citizenship for my wife.
Thank you in advance for your help guys!
