And her green card is obviously in her married name.
She must travel ASAP as her mother is ill and she is VERY worried about her.
I just don't want any hangups - airlines denying her boarding because ticket is in wrong name - or border / customs not allowing her re-entry because her stupid ticket does not match the name on her green card -
I have been told 2 different things:
1) Put both names on plane ticket so that one matches passport and the other matches green card.
and,
2) Plane ticket must match name on passport.
The consensus seems to be that my wife must put the name which is on her passport on the plane ticket - so I do not see a problem with her actually getting BACK to Colombia.
The possible problem is when she tries to return with a plane ticket in her maiden name and a Colombian passport in her maiden name with a green card in her married name -
WHERE EXACTLY is her green card checked, in Colombia before boarding or at Kennedy Airport after arrival?
Would her green card (with married name) plus her passport (with maiden name) and marriage license (showing maiden name and married name) be enough to satisfy borders / customs that she is who she says she is and is permitted entry, even though her plane ticket and passport have her maiden name on them?
We will call and/or visit the Colombian Consulate in Manhattan first thing in the morning, to find out what they recommend that she does, as far as her ticket and passport being in her maiden name is concerned.
PLEASE HELP if you have factual information about what we must do, and if you foresee being held up from travelling until something is done with her passport.
