Please help - maiden name on the passport

My wife used my last name on all applications - EAD, I-485, AP, but her passport is still with maiden name.

We are still waiting for approval, hoping to get approval soon. I would like to know whether it will be a problem when we go for stamping ? Do we have to get her passport updated with my last name ?

Please shed some light on this issue...

With the rate at which VSC is approving cases, you have more than enough time to get the name change on the passport. It is easier to get a name change recorded in the passport that to justify, at the time of stamping, why the name change was never made or validating your wife's true identity.

I renewed my passport through Priority Mail (to the NYC consulate) and it takes about 7-10 days, for most cases. Mine took 10 days. I am guessing it will take the same amount of time for a name changed assuming all the documentation is correct.

These are my 2 cents...my recommendation might influence your decision but you still have to take the decision. If you are worried about sending your passport by regular mail, you can always make a trip to NYC. It's beautiful this time of the year.
