Please help: interview preparation/participation

Hi folks.

My 485 case has been transferred to local CIS office, and my attorney asks me $5,000 for the interview preparation + participation. My case is (no-sponsoring) self-application. Do you think the attorney fee makes sense??

You don't need a lawyer for facing interview. I guess your case is EB1-EA or EB2-NIW. The interview is very much straight-forward, they will ask you some questions from your I-485 form, like name, birth date, parent's name, etc. Probably you need last three years tax returns, W2s, original birth certificate, I131 (affidavit of support if you have dependent). I made a list of all possible documents. Give me your email addres and I'll send you. Paying $5,000 to the lawyer is wasting your money.

minammmmmm,
the fees is extremely high.
Unless and untill your case is extremeely complicated or has lot of
loopholes, there is no need for atorney prep and participation.
I took the attorney for the interview. (charged 1000$)
The INS lady didnt even let him speak at all.

Go thru the threads on this forum specially the local transferes one and you can learn all the requirements from people's experiences.

goodluck

I agree with fikabir.

If your case is not complicated, if you are in the same area as your NIW, if your employer can write you an employment letter, and if you have pay stubs, you don't need to worry too much.

This is based upon others' experiences (I don't have any personal interview experience yet).

Best wishes,

Jigesh

My I485 also transfered to Local INS office.

Just now i checked the site for the status.
My case also transferred to local INS office after submitted documents for RFE..
RFE given for

2 years W2s
2 months paystubs
and current employment letter.

I'm currently working on EAD and Last year I left the company the one who filed my I485.

I don't know what to do...

fikabir, could you please send me the questions to my mail id

My email: Kala12352003@yahoo.com

Thanks for all your help.

Better hire attorney (cheaper atleast)

I got interviewed on Feb 6th and nothing happened. Just because i did not take my attorney with me for interview she is taking revenge. Some egoist IIOs create problems so better hire some cheap attorney who may charge 500 or 1000 bucks...

Good luck for your interview. By the way i am waiting for more than 10 months just for not taking my attorney with me. No reasons stated. Just pending....

Thanks,
MSR01

Re: Better hire attorney (cheaper atleast)

sorry to hear that...
There're a couple of things I don't understand..
Who was taking revenge..?? IIO ?? and why ???
Besides, why nothing happened..?? I think right after interview, they must tell you whether your case is approved or not.
What did they tell you..?? Just go home and wait for another interview..??

Please let us know..

Thanks.

Thanks so much for the list of documents.

One minor question: could you tell us which documents the IIO actually wanted to see in your interview ??

Thanks.

minammmmmm,

Soory for the late response.

Yes, it was self-petitioned NIW case. The officer didn't ask anything about NIW or regarding employer, just ask for employment letter.

fikabir

fikabir,

Can you tell me what is "DL"?

One more question, do you know why was your case transferred to local office for interview? My case is also NIW . It was transferred to local BCIS office without asking any RFE.

Thanks for your helpful information.

i guess by DL he meant driver's license

besides, i don't think there is any particular reason...probably trying to reduce backlogs in vsc... not 100% sure tho...

Thanks, minammmmmm.

By the way, did you have your interview yet?
