My fiancee and me both are on an F1 visa. I am currently on my OPT. My finacee found out recently that he is out of status and has applied for a reinstatement. This is his graduating term and he might not get his OPT in which case we would have to change his status as my dependent. We had a lot of questions regarding this if someone can help.

1. Can he apply for a change of status from F1 to F2 immediately after being reinstated?

2. Will we have to expalin reasons as to why do we want to do a change of status?

3. We are not married as yet, so applying for an F2 immediately after marriage will it create any issues?

4. How long does it take to get an F2 visa approved once u apply?

5. What are the documents needed in order to apply for an F2?

6. How much financial resources do I need to show to support him?

7. Any other details that anyone has about F1 to F2 change.

This is really urgent as we need to get all the documents in place. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

5. What are the documents needed in order to apply for an F2? Your Financial support affidavit, yur status etc..

6. How much financial resources do I need to show to support him? Your Tuition fees+ you and your spouse living expenses in a bank account liquid cash.
7. Any other details that anyone has about F1 to F2 change. You need to prove the necessity becasue spouse is dicontinuing study. The purpose of F1 was deafeated by the spouse. You may have to explain it.
This is really urgent as we need to get all the documents in place. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
