Please help: First Name spelled incorrectly on 485 approval and 551

The stamping was on 12/27. I was told by the officer that I have to wait till I get the plastic, then come back with my birth certificate to get it corrected, and then wait for the new corrected plastic :rolleyes:

Meanwhile I have to travel in 03/05 and I am worried that the incorrect first name can cause problems in re-entering and/or with the airlines.

Has someone been through this? What are my options?

You can file I-90 (e-file) with the correct information. Give it a shot and you might get the card before 03/05.
 
My wife and I just travelled on our cards, and her birthdate was wrong. No problems entering. The officer did not even notice.

We've filed I-90 for a new card.
 
Comming back in US may not be problem but other countries might give you problems. I had to argue with immigration ppl in india alot when by kid's birthdate was off by 4 days. So get the things corrected before you go. Go to local INS office and fill up I90 form or tell them to give you new stamp based on your birth certificate.
