Please help- F1 COS

Hi,

I graduated in Spring 2006 and applied for J1 on June 1st. I received the receipt for COS to J1. But my F1 expired on July 12th before J1 approval.
Am I out of status even though my J1 is under process?

I am confused. Please help.

You are not out of status, becasue your COS applied before your F1 expiry.
