I am on an H1B visa here in US. I plan to work from our Indian R&D Center for several months. I know that the time spent outside can be used to freeze my H1B clock for that long. However, I am worried that if I spend more than a year outside, apart from reseting my H1B clock to another 6-years, it might force me to be counted against the H1B cap again.
Is this true? That is, if I work as an expat for over an year outside US, will I have to go through the H1B cap again to re-enter US? Also, will my H1B clock be reset to another 6 years?
What are the consequences of expatriation on H1B? I didnt get any info on this from the standard immigration sites.
