Please Help EAD Card..

I applied for EAD renual in Nov 2000. And I got the card on 12th Jan 2001. But when I check the card the expiration dates on it is old dates. Then I called Vermount Service Center, then they put a request for new card on 25th of Jan. My existing card is going to expire on 16th March. I didnot get the new card. I am little panic. Does anyone knows that I can go to local INS(Newark) office to get the new card? Can I work with out the card?Please some one give me suggestion. Thanks in advance.

During my EAD renewal, my lawyer told me that they give EAD with effect from the expiry date of the last EAD even though they
approve later on as long as you apply for renewal in advance. For Example. if 1st EAD expires on March 16th, and the new one is approved on April 1st, and asuming you applied in Jan, you should get the renewal with effect from March 16th. I am in a similar
situation and therefore, I asked my lawyer. Hope this helps.

madhumeela, Since you applied more than 90 days before the expiry and got it with the wrong dates, its there mistake so in that case your EAD is automatically extended 240 days till you get the new card or until the decision is made or you can also go to the nearest INS district office and obtain your extension right away.

Same thing happened to me. I called VSC and informed the error. They told me that they will send a new card. But I didn\'t receive the card before the expiration of my EAD. I went to local INS office and got a interim EAD. They took only 1 hour for that. After a week I got the EAD from the VSC. Don\'t worry, you can get a interim EAD from local INS office.
