Please help - Does I-130 approval speed up the I-485/I-765?

Hi all,

My question is stated as the title. My I-130 was filed in April and was approved some days ago (please see my signature for detail). Now I really want to get my EAD as soon as possible to go to work. Does this I-130 approval help with my EAD processing at all?

In addition, I am wondering there is signal or trend showing that the EAD processing is getting faster this year? I heard that the applicants are becoming fewer, so kind of wishing I can get my EAD quicker..

Another question is, if I started my application for I-485, do I still qualify for OPT for F1 student? I just graduated from school. If OPT is faster than EAD through marriage, maybe I should start OPT application at the same time.

I will be grateful if anyone can feed me some advice or share with me your experience related.

Thanks a million.

Why didn't you file for the entire GC application process? When your I-130 was approved, did you receive a NOA in the mail? You won't REALLY get the EAD, until you REALLy file for I-485 and I-765. :)

In addition, I am wondering there is signal or trend showing that the EAD processing is getting faster this year? I heard that the applicants are becoming fewer, so kind of wishing I can get my EAD quicker..

No way to speed up the EAD process, 90 days is the fastest that they can issue. In immigration terms, 90 days is like a regular credit card company mailing you a new credit card 7 days after approval, so you can spend. :p

If I remember correctly, once you file for I-485 then your OPT is not necessary and is burned and crashed by your filing. The OPT is the same thing as a EAD, but with an EAD it indicates an immigration intent, whereas the OPT indicates intention to return home after some valuable experience gained via practical work. You can't have it both ways, you will need to wait for USCIS to issue the EAD once you file for I-485, which should have been done in April when you filed for I-130. You are in NC for the love of all that is country, which means there are few people migrating or immigrating down there, so the processing for a GC would have taken less than 120 days. I saw some guys in ATL who were issued their GC or citizenship in 57 days.

I will be grateful if anyone can feed me some advice or share with me your experience related.

Let me know if you are grateful...
