Has anyone had a situation where their attorney did not file an application with the INS on time, thus making them out of status. What are one\'s options if one can document that it is entirely the attorney\'s fault, and you have documents that evdience that you gave the requisite applcation and documents to your attorney atleast 2-3 months prior to the filing deadline. And subsequently kept trying to reach the attorney to find out the filing status without ever getting a true response.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. In dire straits, and the attorney is being absoulutely un-cooperative.

This might be worth a shot...

You could get in touch with AILA (American Immigration Lawyers Association) and explain the situation to them. They have an "Immigration Lawyer Referral Service" (they charge upto $100 for an initial in-person, one-half-hour consultation). They might help you find the right attorney for the job. For the referral service, you can call them on 1-800-954-0254, or send an email to ilrs@aila.org, and include the details of your case.

For more info, visit their website at http://aila.org, or contact:
