please help...asylum

Hi, guys i have a question,
i got married 6 mounts ago,but before that i was going to apply for asylum,but after married i learned i cant, now i want to divorce and apply for asylum.
My question is i am still married and i have to apply for asylum this week.Do you think its going to be problem,because already i sent for married paper work ? or they are seperate issue ? my friend told me i need to cansel married paperwork because i want to divorce and then i can.
an you help me please ?

Your friend is highly mistaken. You can apply for asylum even if you are married. In fact it is even better if your wife is not a legal permanent resident or an American citizen. We don't know the status of your wife. If your wife is an American citizen, I would not apply for asylum. I would have your wife sponsor you. It is a quicker process. If your wife has a GC and is going to be a citizen pretty soon and you are in status, wait for her to become a citizen and file the petition or you can file the petition and upgrade it once she becomes a citizen. If she is not a citizen or a permanent resident, go ahead and file for asylum if you have a credible case and once your asylum petition is approved, you can do a follow to join and your wife can join you. You do not need to divorce your wife to apply for asylum. If you guys are not getting along, then that is a different story all together.

my wife is an american citizen.But i want to divorce her.already i sent paperwork to immigraiton but i cant stay with my wife,and already she told me she is not going to be with me in interview.So in this sitiation i want to apply for asylum.İ have alot of proff for torture....İn this situation,if i apply to asylum is it problem ? still can i get aproved ?
