Please help--AP Renewal

I want to travel on AP in december, My current AP expires in december 1st week. Can I go to local INS (Newark,NJ in my case) for AP renewal?
Please help if anyone is in same boat!!!

I believe that they do it if it's an emergency situation. I ask for extension to Newark office over the phone and they'll told me that I have to do it in the office where my case is pending (Vermont). Ask them because time is getting short, I'll apply for my AP extension on October 17 and I'm still waiting for approval.

I know I dont have time to apply at vermont as I wont get AP extension by the time i need.

I tried the number you gave I guess since today is veterans day no one is there in the office. I will try tomorrow and let you know!

Hey Guys , Just want to let you know that for AP Renewal I called the number 1-800-375-5283 and they said I can go to local INS (Newark, NJ in my case) and submit form I131 and get AP Renewal the same day.
I am planning to go next week and I will keep you posted when I get my AP renewal.
