Hi everyone,

I'm am new here, I have searched around here on the guide step by step to do this , but I can not find it

Could anyone tell me what I should send in the first mail? and how to track if they receive my mail. And then after that, we do I need to do? I read some post , but some time I don't understand because of abbreviation.

Thank you very much.

First of all, what is it that you are trying to do? applying for U.S. Citizenship? if so, through which category? are you a Permanent Resident? are you an alien on a visa? be more specific please.

sorry, I didn't mention it, I thought you should know it. I posted this post under "After The Green Card And US Citizenship" --> "US Citizenship"

So, I think you should know that I am applying for citizenship.

So, for the first mail, I have to mail the N-400 form application. Do I have to send any my picture with this application? if not when should I send it to them. For the fingerprint, when do I need to do it. On the instruction, it says, I need to have fingerprint during the first 2 weeks or so. But I don't know when and where I need to do it.

there is no step-by-step instructions here since the USCIS has a decent set of instructions: http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/M-476.pdf
It explains most of the common cases; also at the end of the doc, there's a document checklist that explains what all has to go with your application envelope
If you file G-1145 with your N-400, you'll even get SMS and email notification once your application has been received

The usual steps after you submitted your N-400 applications are:
* first letter: Notice of Action (NOA) as confirmation that USCIS has received your application
* after a couple of weeks, yet another letter, sometimes titled RFE that tells you when and where to get finger printed
* once your interview is scheduled, you'll receive an interview letter (IL)
* some folks then get a Yellow Letter (YL) that lists what additional documents to bring to the interview
* lastly, once you passed the interview, you'll get a Oath Letter (OL): at the oath ceremony you'll actually become a US citizen and you'll receive a naturalization certificate; note that some DOs (district offices) do same-day oath after the interview

good luck; please read both the guideline and browse through the existing threads in this forum. If your situation is somehow complicated and special, come back here, explain your particular circumstances and folks here will be glad to help you with answers
