RFE notice says "if you don't hear from us within 14 to 60 days you may call us to verify..". It is almost 2 months by next week (they received rfe on Oct 31, 03), there is no progress until now. Instead I call BCIS to verify my status I am thinking to contact a senator? is this right time to contact a senator?. I hope at least I may get 2 nd FP. Please suggest what you think ? it will be a great help from you guys !

If you did not abuse your option of calling INS earlier, then contacting INS is a good idea now. Call them first and find out what is happening.

In my opinion, contacting INS thru senator should always be avoided in all circumstances. The reason is that, here, influence works only if it is very powerful. Everyone knows that a congressman does not care two hoots about an immigrant. So, ultimately INS may squeeze your b's. So, just exercise it when everything else fails.

I had a chance of contacting the senator, took appointment and did not go after thinking with a clear mind. I called INS and they sent me 2nd FP.

I remembered your case. I am also in the same boat.
INS received my RFE on Oct 23 and till date I have not heard.
I will wait even today and may be next week I am planning to contact INS and want to use the option of contacting local senator if that fails.
I never abused by calling INS but at the same time I don't have faith in INS unlike DryIce in getting a positive response.

RFE notice itself says to 'call them', why don't you call USCIS before looking in to some other options?

I called just once to INS in month of Sept, 03 to make sure my address get updated. I hope that might triggered RFE. And also I used a senator help in May 03 for my AP approval when I want to travel India. The both ways helped me some extent. So probably I will go option calling again in next week.

The present trend is like this... who got RFE has to wait for 2-3 months to get FP2 --> then after FP another 2 months to say Yahooo..... Finally it sucks 4-6 months to who got the rfe....

As per rupnet there is no progress for March filers who got RFE. 30% lck guys got approved who did not get any RFE.

Don't worry you will get approved soon because of rfe. Think of us how does not received anything yet just waiting. we are the unluckiest person then you.
