Guys
I got my GC little more than month ago. Now I am thinking to leave my sponsor employer for two reasons:
1)He was a parasite during the time of process(sucked the blood).
2)I am getting a good opportunity.

My question is: How long after getting GC approval one can leave sponsor employer? What time period is safe?Have you come across any of your friends who might have done it?
I ll appreciate your replies.

Timeframe

Although there is no specific timeframe for such a thing, as long as you can prove to the INS (if any enquiry comes out of this) that your intents were true, you shouldn\'t have a problem. We all know that no one is guaranteed permanent (not fulltime) employment with any one company. People do look out for better opportunities all the time. Therefore, it is important that you demonstrate intent before you leave the company that sponsored your GC. If you want to play it safe, I\'ve seen some attorneys recommending at least 6 months. Also, you may want to check whether there is any clause in your employment/GC contract with your company that mandates a minimum stay period. Some companies require their employees to stay with them for X number of years after obtaining the GC through them. Another important aspect is that you want to make sure that you dont burn your bridges with your current employer. If you do that, then they have a clean case of misrepresented intent and can, in principle, apply to INS to revoke your GC.
Please note that I am not an attorney or even a qualified advisor on this issue. These are my own two cents and you are to use your own judgement and assume all risk associated. (hehe, my little disclaimer)

AC-21 180 days portability rule

According to this, you can change the employer 6 months after filing for 485. But this law is still new and there are numerous interpretations of this.

I think that you can change the employer after getting your GC since you can change after 6 months of filing for 485.

Frantic, 180 portability rule does not have any relevance to the situation once GC is approved
