Hi guys,

I have a question,

Since I got my asylum I got really depressed. And I started having problems with my husband and I am worried especially because I never had problems with alcohol and I think this kind of situation started because I miss a lot my family and relatives and also because I don't find a job. But anyway, in the middle of the problem with my husband one of the neibors called the police and the police arrived here to find out what was happening. I was scared probably they thougth that my husband was trying to kill me or something like that, someting that is not true, only was a problem product of my depression and the alcohol. So I didn't get arrested and my husband neither, but since they took my persnal information like social security number and name, etc, I am worried if this situation can affect my status or they use this information for my record. Always I am worried for everything so I would like to hear some advises or similar situation with police involved. Thanks!!!

As far as the police arrival is concerned, that is not big deal. At this time, you should not worry immigration issues; rather you should worry about correcting yourself. Your English looks pretty good and your thinking is very good. I don't know what why you can't find job.

Also since you are here you have the apportunity to help your family not to miss it. Find nice job, send money to your family, save money for a visit to your family. It is true that lack of job depresses an individual and the alcohol compounds the problem. You understand your problem, so solve it. Don't immigration. You are fine

Nothing will happen, if no charges were pressed, nothing will be saved in your record, maybe they just took your and your husbands info, just in case something happened and they cannot find anybody.

Stay away of anything that will bring the attention of the Police, any bad records will affect you adjustment of status and even citizenship.

Be wise, and safe, stay away from drinking, It will only bring you and your family missery.

Good Luck

sorry to hear about post asylum problems

asyleearm,

Sorry to hear about the dificulties that you are having post asylum. I had the same difficulties finding a job. Being a professional in my country and no one here it is difficult, no matter how your skills or english level are. My two cents for you:
- to find a job related to the career you had: find an internship (you are not too old or young for that), mostly it won't be paid but it is a start.
- Check www.idealist.org for non-profit organizations jobs

There is no shortcut for finding a job, but the hardest part (asylum) is in your past.

To overcome these difficulties, a lot of talk between you and your husband is required.

Thanks to everybody

Thanks to eveybody,

Yes, actually I am trying to find out a solution for my problem, I am not addicted to alcohol or any drugs so it is not a big deal for me. My real problem is my depression and my relation with my husband. So far he is supporting me a lot and we will are going to a psicologist. You now, adjustment is very hard, for others is not, but for me actually is very sad, especially because you have a lot of expectations and when you fail you feel miserable. This is the position how I feel. I hope I can find the solution because I want to finish with this situation right now and the best way I think is asking for help to people who knows how to drive situations like this. Thanks everybody for suppoting me.
