Hello friends,

I have send my filled in packet-3 to St. Louis on 10/16/2002. I want to know how many days will it take to get my interview date. And I am planning to go to India in first week of December 2002 for 2 months. If I go during this time, will I be able to get my interview done while I am there in India or do I have to postpone my journey untill I get my interview date. Please do advise me.

It depends where your consulate is. If it is Mumbai then it takes around 20 days for NVC to process your application ( that is reviewed with out any issues) and then about a 1 week to send to India. 1 week for the consulate to put in their system. and then 62 -75 ( from the day your application was dispatched to the consulate by NVC) days to set up your interview date.

So assuming your application is going to Mumbai you will done with your review by 7th Nov 2002. Your application will be dispatched to Mumbai by 14th of Nov. Reaches consulate by 18th of Nov. In the system by Nov 21st. Interview date should be 19th January.

If it is chennai or New Delhi then add another month. that means you are looking at Feb 21st interviews.

Dont ask me how I came up with this numbers. But my numbers are generally very accurate.

I know that my consulate is going to be Chennai. So, probably my interview date is going to be in last week of Feb, 2003. In that case I may have to postpone my journey for another one month.

And one more suggestion I need from you. Is there any way that I can tell the consulate to send packet-4 to my address in India. Will there be any problem if I do this. Please advise me!!!!

It is easy. Once the consulate gets the packet 3 send them an email with a request for mailing Pak 4 to the local address.

There will be no problem. Pak 4 is nothing but

OF 171 ( appointment letter)
Ds 230 part I and Part II

If you dont get your pak 4 then make sure you print out DS 230 part I and II from immihelp.com and you can go to consulate before the interview to pick a copy of OF 171 your appointment letter.
