i want to do some night shift job in newyork city..as a security guard or some position..they told me that they'll give my salary thru check...

i am regularly working in the morning..

is it okay if i do both jobs at the same time..is it effecy my GC process..
please let me know ..i have to tell them...
thanks in advance...

Hi verant123,

Legally speaking you should not work with some one who doesn't sponsor you the work visa.

As long as you are not working illegally it will not affect your GC processing. Your new employer should file for the appropriate work permit/visa before you start working.

Are you H1-B?

You on H1-B and got a regular day-time job. Why on earth do you want to work as a night-time security personnel?

1. You need a valid work permit to work part-time or on a second job.

2. I doubt you will be able to get a work permit for working as night-time security because it is not a "speciality" occupation.

3. When you are not a legal permanent resident, it is illegal to work without a valid work permit on any job and has serious adverse consequences.
Its impact on your Green Card process will be the last thing you would have to worry about.
