Please Advice On TN Visa

I am a Canadian Engineer with Job offer in the US. Im currently working in Canada and got similar position with a US small company. i would be starting in Dec 15, 2019 but would be going for 3 days orientation and meeting with the team in 2 weeks time (October 24 to 27, 2019)

Should I apply for my TN when going for orientation in Oct, 24 or should I wait till when i will start in Dec 15? Would it be a problem if I apply and get the TN and then stays in Canada for that long (Oct 27 to Dec 14) before I start in Dec 15. Note that this option of applying early in Oct 24 gives me the hope that I can quit my current job with assurance that i would be starting another one in US. Whereas quitting Canada job and getting refused of TN in Dec would be devastating.

Also, I have a bachelor degree from Ghana but a Master degree from Canada, can I just use my Master degree and skip doing BSc evaluation? Both BSc and MSc are Mechanical Engineering

Thanks for the help guys

A Canadian Engineer with a Canadian Engineer degree (MSc in your case) doing an Engineering job should be an easy approval.
Just ensure you TN letter describes your engineering job.
Are you a licensed professional engineer in your province of residence? (P.Eng in Ontario) If so, bring that as well. If not, no worries. (only needed in some types of engineering)
Are you being paid for your 3 day orientation? If so you your job starts on Oct 24th. You must have TN to get paid.
Are you driving or flying to US? If flying, they may see your return airfare on Oct 27th in their system (airlines share passenger data with CBP).
Honest is a must.
My advice would be to apply for TN on Oct 23rd (or a few days earlier if within driving distance of land POE) and explain that you are starting a new job on Oct 24th with orientation. But your situation is a little tricky. (your new US employer will not pay you from Oct 28th to Dec 15th)
Maybe others have different advice.

I would be entering on B1 for now. I wouldn't worry about payment. B1's get paid, too. And you won't be actually paid until you get SSN etc on TN. B1 for now.

I once went for New joinee Orientation to US, told immigration officer.he was okay.B1 entry
Thanks for the reponse friend. I'm leaning towards B1 option. Would I need to show them Offer letter If I tell CBP that I am going for orientation? Thanks again

Thanks a lot for the detailed response my friend. Yes I am doing engineering job same as the new offer but my offer letter doesn't describe the role just the engineering title.

Yes I am a PEng

No would not be paid as I would start in Dec 15 but the company paid for the trip and hotel and rental car

I'm Flying down and flying back

I'm leaning towards applying for TN later as I would use this trip opportunity to ask the employer to draft me a TN Employment offer with details description of the role.

By the ways, do anyone have a sample TN Employment offer I can follow?

Another question, the offer came on a regular paper and not letter head of the company, would that be a problem? This company is very small and I would be their main Engineer to train others as they are just starting out on Engineering jobs - they've been existing for 20 years but not for Engineering, would CBP officer have problem with this?

Thanks
