Hello all,
I am a DV2002 winner and I already passed an interview and have my immigration visa. I need to enter US until June. I am now finishing my Master Degree in university, I was suppose to finished it until the end of the year ( June) but because of some delays with my thesis I need another year to finish. Now the question.
Can I enter US at June stay for a week and then return to my country to finish the thesis? What do I need to do in US? I know that I need to ask for SSN and reentry permit is there anything else? Did some one did it?

What you said is correct. SSN is not essential, but good idea.
Apply for I131 after you go through POE 30 days before you go back if possible.

why after 30 days , i was hoping to come back after 3 weeks top. I still have school and a job to pay for it.

You are right, in I131 they ask for SSN.
From what I understand, 30 days is not a must, I131 is good for "emergency travel" too.

You may want to ask an attorney about this plan. In particular - filing taxes for that year that you are going to be absent.

Also consider being here for most of that year and going back for only short time. Possibly, using local facilities with your school\'s help.

In analogical situation in Russia in 1999 I delayed my entering to US
for half of year paying 350$. I think you can do it twice, check local INS.
