please add about leave eligibility forH1

I have seen so many topics but hardly any thing that tells about the possibilities of taking time off your work (provided employer agrees) (even if on loss of pay) and still maintain your status. My case has to do with needing 4-5 months off of my work to study for medical boards. My employer is willing to give me time on loss of pay. Is that okay to do. thanks

This has always been a tough topic to address. INS is always wary of "leave without pay" scenarios because there is a possibility for abuse. In my judgment, if the leave is "normal" in the employment cotext, for example to prepare for an exam, maternity leave etc., INS will accept it as maintaining status. Regards. Rajiv.
