I checked my case status online and it said "we ordered a new card, your card will be mailed to you a.s.a.p.

My approval was stamped on April 22 2003.

Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed and praying that they did not make any errors on my card.

Good luck to all of you waiting for your approvals and plastic cards.

Hey Jack!
Congratulations Man!
Its so cool to know positive development for you. Make sure you don't leave this forum deprive memebers with your invaluable advice! :D

Congratulations JakIsBack,

You finally made it. Lets hope that they keep up this time frame (5-7 months from approval).

I wish you'll get it very soon!!!
That is a very nice news.

Did you have that experiance too: my case is approved already, I was stamped. I went online today to see what my status like now. I got only something like "this number has a mistake or does not exist. Call INS, e.t.c". Did you have it too before they change it for your current message on line?

Congratulations Jack, I can't believe we have been posting messages in this forum for almost three years, unbelievable. We can finally say now, that this step is over.
The rest of my family have also received their cards, so we are even happier now.
Regards

Thanks Alan and other fellow asylees who have bid congratulations to my success. This forum has been very helpful and morally supportive to me. When I get my plastic card in the mail and my green card saga really comes to end I will write a stroy describing my experiences.

To those of you who are still waiting for approvals and for the plastic card I urge you not to lose hope.

Three years are the length of time need to get Canadian citizenship as an asylee there, damn.

In Canada you become a permanent resident immediately after asylum is granted. The same rule applies to Australia and the U.K.

Only this country artificially prolongs the process.

Ironic, isn't it? This is the country that was founded by the refugees fleeing religious persecution from the old world and the words from poet Emma Lazarus' poem The New Colossus are suppose to have deep meanings in this society.

Could it be that the countries you have mentioned accept lesser number of refugees, asylees than the US? I dont know about Canada, but I've heard that getting asylum in the UK, most EU countries, and Australia aren't as easy as it is in the US. Oh well...whatever the answers may be the facts remains still: Canada gives instant PR to asylees and citizenship in 3 yrs.

The New Colossus by Emma Lazarus

"Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame,
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore,
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

New York City, 1883
