Plastic card lost

Passport was stamped in the last week of June 2004, but still haven't received the plastic card. Had sent an inquiry - the response was that the card was mailed and never returned to the mailer. So basically its lost now.

I have 3 questions:
1. Will I have to get a new stamp on my passport before the present one expires (June 2005)?
2. If I apply for a new card (Form I-90), can I get away with not getting the passport restamped even if the card doesn't arrive before the stamp expires?
3. Has anyone applied Form I-90 - If so, how long does it take to get the card?

---- go to local USCIS, file the Form I-90 and at the same time get your passport stamped again. By staming the passport you will have valid stamp for 1 year and you need that stamp if you want to go out if you dont have Card in hand. why are you trying not to get the passport stamped again??
3. Has anyone applied Form I-90 - If so, how long does it take to get the card?
---- if you search in this thread many have filed I-90, nobody has updated if they recieved the card or how much time taken. VSC is taking about 4 months and I have read one post that TSC is fast and person got new Card in 1 month after filing I-90 with local office.
** Card is not made by Local CIS, Card production unit is with service center where your I-485 was filed, Local USCIS will send the form I-90, 2 photo, white card with fingerprint and your signature to service center and service center Card unit will send the card and you will get reciept of I-90 filing from your service center

The reason I am a little hesitant to get the passport re-stamped is nothing but being lazy. SFO office is a pain. Been there already 5 times in the last 3 years.

I will make an appointment soon.
