hi folks
i have a medical urgency/emergency as my father is admitted to apollo hospital delhi.
i never applied for AP , it has been 10 months on ead and i have already applied for renewal ....even though i still am on H-1B status as i have not used my ead. my last stamping of hib visa was 5 yrs back since then i have had 3- 4 H-1b but never stamped and i have never been out of status
questions

what constitutes a notice of emergency?

should i go to pittsburgh which is 3 hrs from me or philly which is 4.5hrs and will they give me an "emergency AP".and which day of the week and timing, do i need an appointement

do i need a actual ticket or a travel agents iternary will suffice.

any other tips or caveats that i can use

Get a letter written by your father's doctor in the hospital faxed to you detailing the nature of his emergency. That should be sufficient for issuing an emergency AP. It will also help if you can carry a birth certificate or any other document that has your name AND your father's name on it.

Go to whichever is nearer, I don't think it matters.

However there is a chance that BCIS may advise you to use H1 and get a visa in India since you continue to be in H1 status.

if u always were in status and have latest H approval then go to Delhi and take ur certificates paystub LCA can get H without any problem I wish u all the luck can understand ur position as lost my father 2 months back in Delhi.Hope he has a speedy recovery.
Donot worry u will not have any problems getting ur H in Delhi
