I have a job offer in India and they need me there end of Nov. I recently got my citizenship and US passport. It looks like there is a chance I could get me PIO by mid NOV if I send my application by mail soon. Please share your thoughts. Visa is not an option since I cannot work on visa. Any thoughts.

csch1wait,
Congratulations on the job offer:) and good luck.

How long are you going to be in India for this job? If it is really, really long term (years), I hope you are planning on an OCI application while in India. With PIO status, you have to be mindful of FRRO (registration) if you are going to stay for more than 180 days in one visit.

With OCI, you don't have to worry about the registration/reporting paperwork.

Cheers!!!

Agree with gc4us. If you are anyway going to go through 2 applications - first PIO then OCI, a faster way might be to get employment visa first then OCI.
