Hello everybody

I applied for my OCI at the Chicago consulate and had sent my app early April
( I am posting this on the open forum rather than consulate thread, as I think this is a general question).

When I checked my status on the consulate website, it me that my photo was scanned on May 14th, but nothing after that. (photos no printed, documents not dispatched etc)

Someone was telling me that if it is past 10 days after photo scanning and nothing has happened, that might mean there was something wrong with the photo.

Has anyone had any experience with that? I have been trying to get a hold of the consulate folks, but I dont think they are authorised to answer phones, reply to emails or show some basic courtesy.

ah welll...
would appreciate if anyone has some comments on this.

Thanks

---------------------If the online OCI status shows Photo/Signature Scanned and also show GRANTED then it can be Photo problem. If it does not show GRANTED then Delhi cant print the documents.

----------------it should be if GRANTED and no action from Delhi for 10-12 days then can be Photo problem
Has anyone had any experience with that?

-------------------if they are authorized to answer then who is going to inform you what is the Problem? do you expect BILLI will come to kharghosh home?:)

Trying to understand your quote "OCI status shows Photo/Signature Scanned and also show GRANTED then it can be Photo problem" How? What does Granted means in consulate language?

Her are the steps of OCI
1 Consulate acknowledge the application (you see acknowledged on XXX date on OCI status page)
2. Then Consulate Babbu Scan the Photo/signature (you can see the SCANNING Date on OCI online status page)
3 Then it will show UNDERPROCESS
4 After few days consulate/Embassy GRANT the application and you se the online status GRANTED
5 Delhi Print the OCI Card after 5-10 days from GRANTED date and I have seen few Case PRINTED on….. After 1 or 2 day of Granted date.
6 Then Delhi sends the documents to Consulate
7 Documents are received in Consulate and Consulate generally updates the status RECEIVED after 10-14 days from the Dispatch date from Delhi.

Above is normal process but I cant write anything about Indian Consulate NYC as they have created mess with all OCI, PIO and Visa applications.
GRANTED means the Consulate where you sent your application has Approved or GRANTED

Thanks for your reply Ginnu.

You said
" If it does not show GRANTED then Delhi cant print the documents."

What would that mean ? Is there something from my end I would need to do ? Or just wait it out?

Thanks again !
