Phone Marriage

Here is my situation:

I had an approved I-140 & as soon as my PD became current, I filed my I-485 (which was couple of months ago) and already got the receipt notice. Last week, I got married to a girl (who I have known for years) in Pakistan on the phone (allowed by Islamic Law and Pakistani law). Family members/friends were with me here in California and my wife had family members/friends in Pakistan at the time of the marriage.

Now, since we (bride and groom) were not physically present together at the time of the wedding, will the US Immigration consider it as a valid marriage for immigration purpose? What are my options to bring my wife into the U.S. to join me?

Married over the phone? that is a first...

I do not know, I will search for something and post back later.

ps: have you even seen a picture of this woman?

PraetorianXI : ok.... I guess I didn't mention that I have known her for years.

You run the risk of being denied. The rules state that you must be physically present at the ceremony.

I'm curious as to whether Islamic Law does actually say that in writing.

For reference refer to Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative under
3. For Whom May You Not File?
3D states " A husband or wife, if you and your spouse were not both physically present at the marriage ceremony, and the marriage was not consummated"
