Petition / Press, Tv, Radio

Edison, Cinta , others

Shall we ask rajiv to send the Petition to Mr Khatri, today ? The latest count of signatures is 1580. I think it's futile to delay it any more waiting for 2000 mark. What do you say ? If you agree, we can ask Rajiv to send the petition today.

a small suggestion on this new petition:

imho, we should clearly mention that approving the 485 within 6 months is the ideal solution.

however, since the govt. already has a plan to do this by 2006 and it is still 3 years away, we should mention that the removal of restrictions on AC21, if primary applicant dies approving the 485 atleast for other, etc., should be implemented as interim solutions immediately. we need this ASAP as the govt. shouldn't think that they already have a plan to address this issue.

may be we can something like: "we do understnad very well that the govt. has a plan to address this by 2006 however we kindly request you to grant these intertim benefits: ... in light of the hardships faced."

edit- even though we mention this in the main application, imho, we should say it at the beginning of the second section as i feel it may get better attention.

We should add that if in 2006 it should take only 6 months, then 2005 it should take 10 months and 2004 14 months.

I agree with dsatish...Well there's no point in just waiting..!
Having taken all the pains, initiatives etc., I think it's apt time to start rolling out things before people out here lose 'this' interest..!!

i feel so sorry for the delay you are facing on your case. Be patient and enjoy the postings here. Your turn will come on one fine day.

Voicing our opinion is good ...

I agree with CINTA ...just sitting tight with no action will get us no where .... For any politician/senator to take interest in our plight we need to get the press co-operation .... we are definetly an ignored category.
All we are asking is that our cases be taken seriously and we are not asking any special favours.
BCIS needs to clear up the backlog which they have created ..the backlog exists because there is no pressure when any directions !!!
When it comes to paying taxes they don't want to ignore this category !!!!!!!!!

Edison,

Better hurry up! Petition, Congress and Media.

Note: I have some connections and I will try for a personal meeting with a Congressman. No office, no calls, face to face.. If successful I will relay all to him.

I think the petition the Congress and Media through Media in page of this thread is fine.
Let's give till tomorrow for everyone to Review.

Then we can forward to Rajiv by tomorrow evening to request him to be our contact person in our Media Communicaations. I think there should be some contact person for Media.

By Friday, I'll sent our issue to lot of Media Contact persons.

Voicing our opinion is good AND CRUCIAL

I agree. Let's send something to the 100 senators and 440 congressmen. No matter if they are anti- or pro-immigration, when our petition (complaint about BCIS) reaches these 540 people, it should generate some noise. BCIS (USCIS) should think twice if they ignore our request and keep doing what they like to do with our cases.

After we have sent the petition to the congress we can inform the media what we have done (with the petition attached). This will definitely touch some sensitive (yet ignorant and arrogant) nerves at BCIS (USCIS).

I urge everyone on this board to sign the new petition when it's up. Please DO NOT remain silent and get tortured by BCIS.

I'll incorporate the suggested changes tonight. If no more suggestion can we send to Rajiv for review by tomorrow.

please go ahead

Thanks Edison. Please also post the version you send to Rajiv here, so we don't have to maintain too many threads.

dsatish, thanks for putting together the first draft.

Everyone, your efforts toward the petition(s) and your SIGNING the petition to Immigration Ombudsman are greatly appreciated. Let's keep up with the good work.

Edison and Cinta, I posted in the "permanent" thread about the petition, suggesting we approach the media right now with the petition to Mr. Khatri. Please act if you could. Thanks.

I have two suggestions.
1) It might be better if we remove the header for the first paragraph in the petition ("Immigration Benefits (Permanent Residence and Naturalization) Backlog Petition") . It is better to have the opening sentences as an introductory note.
2) If time permits ( i know it's very difficult), you may be able to pick up better grievances from the petitioners than what we have mentioned in this petition. You can refer the people's comments in the petition where 1700 people have already signed. Also, one or two items in the current Appendix, may better be omitted )if they are deemed not strong enough).

Please take these suggestions at their own merit ( i mean based on your judgement and time availability)

Yes YJay,

We should start ASAP. Trust Edison. The Petition by itself is a media event..that is the start.

dsatish,
I included the header just for myconvenience to include that in subject line for e-mail contacts.
If I have time to browse the comments posted. I'll include some interesting ones.

YJAY, Cinta,
Yes, We'll contacting media shortly. I don't believe in approaching one or two media, so I'll be contacting lot of media persons this weekend which requires some considerable leisure time. I can spare that time this weekend(most probably friday evening) to contact media.
Yesterday also I was exploring some ways to contact O'reilly. He has premium service and it looks like he has special answering service and web cast for the premium service members.

Thanks.

Naturalization ??

Edison,
I might have missed some discussions here, but i am just curious behind the reason for including the request for expediting the Naturalization cases. As of now it is only 6 to 9 months to process those cases. Atmost they can bring this down to 3 months. I am afraid that if they pay more attention to Naturalization, that will come at the cost of other benefits applicants(especially I485). I feel that we might be better without asking for expediting the I400 cases.

Actually we had this discussion. But we agreed to go with this.

It's different strategy to approach these politicians. Some politicians care about 2004 elections and some beyond 2004. So you have to give something to both. Naturalization applications are processed at local USCIS offices where as EB based I-485 are processed at service centers. So we are not affected, only family based I-485s are filed at local office. Moreover, If we have a generalized petition we can always gather more signatures. Also, We get attention if there is some other group with us than I-485 applicants.
