cinta you got points

- if ( BIG IF ) you go to Media, it will attract n*congress men and senators , besides many others.
how many congress men can you meet otherwise directly ? one , four, or max 10 ? iTs not practical

- also about dSatish... wants to grab leadership... its is clearly visisble the way he writes...

dSatish if you want that... come up with your own ideas ..:D

well received.

Cinta,
You should have provided the influence of media in your first message to educate our forum members.I know and I can understand the influence of media but not everyone around.

Most of our friends here are concerned about backlash but most of us are not aware how BCIS works. BCIS solves just the problem of the individuals who raises the concerns.

Did you guys watch the first Democratic presidential candidates debate????? Everyone one is supporting the illegal immigration reform. President of Mexico Mr.Vicent Fox is coming all the way to US to discuss illegal immigrants issues with President of USA and he didn't stop there, he invited Mr.Bush to Mexico to discuss this issue. Illegal immigrants want driver license in California. Asylum Seekers sued BCIS.
NO ONE talk about Legal Immigration reform!!!!!
I wonder why the tax paying legal immigrants doesn't have the nerve to stand up????? (Just about one thousand signed our petition)

We need some strong points and some more strong stories to face this INFLUENTIAL MEDIA.

Some of my views:
1. Totalization Agreement:
Immigration backlog is the clear indication that immigrants are not welcome here. So the only option is to go back to our home country. But you see we all paid taxes especially the Social security taxes and Medicare but if we go back to our country we won't get back those taxes since most of our home country doesn't have "Totalization agreement" with USA.

http://www.ssa.gov/international/agreements_overview.html

2. Immigrant's American Citizen kid's:
If the immigrants are forced to goback to their home country then their American citizen kid goes with them. I see this as deportation of American Citizen.
American Citizens are not welcome in the home country of their parents and even for basic education most of non-citizens have to pay huge amount. It doesn't stop there they face lot of hardships in the new found land.

Just try to recollect how our President presented Tax Cut Policy to Media. Mr.John family having two having save x% on taxes due to increased child care credit,.....
We need some strong stories(dramas) to present to Media.

Also we should be very clear to media that Employment based immigration will not trigger Chain migration. Media and Citizens are too concerned about the chain immigration. Even during last Presidential election Mr.Bush was questioned about his views on chain migration in one of the radio interview.

I think we have reached the consensus on using the media. Now it's time to talk about "how". If we have good an idea of "how" to do it's time to implement.

Edison and Cinta, would you please draft something or initiate something that we can start to send to the media?

Edison you are right. I provided a link from AILA as a primer and also as a how-to. I make the assumption that most of us have been living here for 4-5 years at least and have a general feeling about all these. Maybe I am wrong. This PRESS thing may require a spokesperson to begin with a nd fund raising thereafter..For specific personal reasons I cannot do that due to restrictions and bounds from my job...As a starting point we can send the PETITION to them. Let us not hide it. This is news also.

Most of our friends here are concerned about backlash but most of us are not aware how BCIS works. BCIS solves just the problem of the individuals who raises the concerns.

There should not have been any fears about any MORE backslash. This is the bottom.

Edison,
You are right; the economic and social contibution of immigrants is well documented in some AILA papers backed by REFERENCES. Yes we pay taxes and if one leaves he may loose or find a way to retire or satisfy the SS rules for SS. In my statement it says I need some 4-5 more points to be eligible. You do not need a "green card" to collect SS when you retire!
The other thing is as "greencard1" pointed out in their response. we are ALL GUILTY until and if we are proven innocent one day! and with no prior fraud or any perception of it as seen by the "zero tolerance" adjudicators who work not to APPROVE but to find terrorists! In a country where in 21 states an illegal can have a Driver License, and can buy anything to compliment it and drive a van into the Justice Department as the GAO investigators did yesterday.

Edison, we should hold all accountable from the President and his promises about Backlog reduction, the Congress and the appropriation of the money (DHS got as much money as everybody else combined and even more, but it goes to the other branch BICE, enforcement not to BCIS), Aschcroft and his Senate confirmation hearings/promises and his Patriot Act and everybody else..Show them the GAO reports from 2000 to today! this is goverment also.

How should we approach Media? Article or Petition.

What we should include in our communications?
Stories, Hardships, Reasons for backlog, Suggestions(???), Immigration Pros articles.

Obviously we cannot approach Media with our existing Petitions, So highlight some important issues that we need to include.

Funds Issue

http://www.murthy.com/UDbilint.html
Excerpt:
On Thursday, April 13, 2000, Senator Dianne Feinstein announced that she would be introducing a Bill to reduce the huge INS backlogs.
The Bill apparently also acknowledges that funding is the major problem facing INS. In the past few years, the U.S. Congress has utilized the majority of the funds appropriated for immigration towards INS enforcement (about 80%) instead of towards providing services to those who are paying a majority of the fees.

Media

Edison,

We could approach the media in several ways. There is really a good explanation (.pdf file on AILA's webside - posted the link already).
1: Get the e-mail of their immigration contact or their general contact.
2: Send them a general description of the Backlog problem and its history from 2000 (GAO) backed by references and data. We need REAL DATA no estimations. Following this we concentrate on the Employment based group and explain why we are the forgotten ones. At this point we acknowlwdge the existence of the Petition as our first activity to sole this problem and ask for help. We should really explain what is happening with BCIS, DHS, Security, Congress, the illegals, the refugees, the asylees, the religious and the love affair of the BCIS with ALL THESE BS and the TPS. The "grencard1" answer says most of it. Can reference Aguire's interviews and the lack of any concern for OUR concern.

Note: I am really behind in my job and I am trying to catch up a little bit. I will make more time as we go.

Once the petition is ready, as Rajiv said I would like to approach the ethnic Indian media in Atlanta first. They include Khabar, Atlanta Samachar, Little India.

Suggestion

One small suggestion:

I prefer to address Naturalization backlog issue(just few words) along with our I-485 backlog issue when we approach media, So that we might get wide support for this issue and also we might be able to achieve our mission of lobbying successfully for immigration backlog reduction.

If I'm wrong, Don't feel bad to bash this approach but please substantiate your views.

Even I'm against this approach, I posted this message just to measure the support for this approach.

Any thoughts?

Edison,

if you can substantiate the relationship between US and Naturalisation is perfect. Our goal is Naturalisation anyway.

I would suggest we post it here for a day and then GO! It is important for us to stay the course for this specific problem and not get lost in the pro or anti-immigration lobbies, discussions and a host of other immigration problems. Yes we are all pro-immigration but let us take a look as to why we received no attention so far from nobody.
1: Money and resources is not the MAIN problem (see my table)
2: THE EAD and AP suggestions/solutions will not solve OUR problem even if we get it for 10 years. Where is the GC and Naturalisation.
3: We are all loyal, abiding, patriotic citizens (without the GC), paying TAXES for YEARS. This is the main point of INTEREST. This is whatsets us apart from anybody else. We contribute socially also in our churches and towns.
4: SECURITY looks to be A PROBLEM, because it was defined to be. We are considered guilty until an adjudicator one day decides to the contrary, if he does.
5: FRAUD maybe another problem but we pay the price too. In a country where an illegal can get DL in 21 states? and we cannot?
6: The pro-immigration lobby is too much concerned with the ILLEGALS as they were in 86, 96. The funny point is anyone whose gets rejected IS NOT ABLE to get advandage of any illegal legislation, since he came here legally!

So the problem is the new policies of the BCIS. More denials, less approvals and keep them as long as they wish.

The lack of money is a MYTH. See the three numbers for DHS for the last three years.
