permanent resident tax situation

Thank you for answering folks.
This is so bad for me.I did not expect something like that.
So you think I should contact SSA and explain them about my case. They will probably tell me how much I owe them for these 5 years. And I need to pay(it is probably going to be a lot of money).:(
Is SSA responsible for ss and medicare tax as well???
How much in percentage it would be from my income???
Is not my employer responsible for half of it???
Are ss and med federal taxes and ARE they visible in these tax return transcripts???
Don't get stressed or take any action yet before you have an accountant look through your paystubs and W-2's and 1099's to determine if you owe anything. It is possible you were not required to pay, or that your employer already paid it on your behalf.

Also there is a top on SS income and this top increases each year. One can overpay his SS taxes. Employers are supposed to stop withhold SS taxes once top is reached. But one can work for two employers in a tax year so the second emplyer does not know the first employer alreayd paid SS taxes and will still withhold SS taxes even if top is reached. One should place extra amopunt into the "excessive SS taxes" line on 1040
to claim tax credits.

Practically speaking, this is not an issue for the N-400 application and IRS don’t bother about it as they are interested in the Income tax. What I have seen, is if you changed the employer it is unlikely that the old employer will find about it and ask you to pay the taxes. You may move forward with your life in the new job. However expect a scenario where SS will come to you some time in the future and ask you to pay the unpaid taxes and I don’t know who would be responsible for the employer portion. If you are on 1099/self employed, you are suppose to bay both. Chances are slim but since we run a massive deficit and SS is about broke, someone will run a query on who didn’t pay SS taxes and you name may show up. So if you can you can take care of this early :)

Thank you folks.

The problem is that I did not pay any ss and med taxes for these 5 years.

I do not know if to file N-400 and go to the interview, holping for them not to check my taxes.Or just to wait.Get a lawyer, contact irs and see if that can be fixed.

I do not know how to act.

What is the best think to do? And even I pay off all these taxes,is the USCIS going to accept that and give me the citizenship.

Is there any chance for me to get a payment plan and just start paying the ss and med before the interview?

Thank you in advance.

Best Regards.

Do you have enough money to make one lump payment to SSA? If you pay it off I think you can answer No to all those tax-related question on N400 so that IOs will not likely bother.
